Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer 1-on-1 services?

Yes! All my appointments are booked one at a time (unless they are from the same family) however, sometimes there is overlap with late/early pick up and drop off. Please let me know any preferences upon booking and I will be happy to accomodate!

How often should my dog be groomed?

All dogs that require haircuts should be on a 4-6 week schedule to maintain a healthy, tangle-free coat & to enjoy the grooming experience. Dogs that do not require a full groom (ex. double coats, short coats, etc) can do with 6-10 weeks between appointments. If you have a new puppy or a dog that struggles at the groomers, I strongly recommend a more frequent schedule of every 1-3 weeks until they are better acquainted with the process. See my "puppies" page for more information.

How can I pay for my appointment?

I accept all forms of payment including: cash, cheque, e-transfer, debit or credit.

How soon should I bring my new puppy in for a groom?

As soon as your pup has had their second round of vaccinations, usually around 3-4 months. The earlier the better as I want your dog to learn to enjoy the professional grooming experience from a young age. The longer you wait, the more difficult that may be. Visit the "puppies" page on my site for more information & resources.

How long will it take to groom my dog?

This is totally dependant on the size, temperament & coat condition of your dog. I will usually give a estimate of 1-2 hours for small dogs and 2-4 hours for large dogs. I prioritize quality over quanity and will never rush a nervous pet. I will call or text 20-30 minutes before finishing your dog to give you a heads up.

Can I stay & watch you groom my dog?

Unfortunately, I do not allow for owners to stay for the process due to the unsafe distraction it causes for the dogs in my care. If you'd like to follow along behind the scenes at my shop, follow me on instagram at @alishia.the.groomer

What products do you use?

I use high quality, professional grade, all-natural products. Every dog gets a custom shampoo suited to their specific coat type and skin condition. If your pup has any allergies or sensitivities, please let me know at drop off.

I don't want my dog shaved. How do I keep my dog tangle free at home?

In order to complete an even trim in a longer length, the coat must be completely tangle-free. The occasional knot/tangle is easily brushed out however if the hair mats together tightly towards the skin, the only safe and humane way to remove it is a short shave. The best way to avoid this is regular brushing & combing at home as well as choosing a haircut appropriate to your dogs lifestyle. I am happy to suggest the tools, techniques & grooming schedule so we can achieve your desired look & length!
